A scene from the Brooklyn Bridge by N. Maung on Flickr.

I think my mom has hope I’m not going to move. I feel terrible about it sometimes. It’s not because I don’t want to go, but because I do this all the time and it hurts people. I don’t abandon anyone emotionally. I still have a lot of friends from L.A. that I still talk to even though I moved to SF. But even they are a little bummed that I’m packing up and move out-of-state after university graduation in May. I think my mom took comfort in the fact that I was just north and in the same state—albeit 7 hours away, but I was still in California. Now I’m going to be gone in just a few months. I don’t want to leave my mom either or even my best friends. What most don’t understand and what I sometimes don’t understand is that I’m not leaving. I’ll still stand by them. It will just take a little more effort to get to me and vice versa. That’s all.

Are you moving to New York City? Jealous!

Yep! I applied to the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, and I’m really hoping I get in! But even if I don’t, that’s where I really want to be. I’m young and restless. I just can’t stay in one place for very long and I really want to spend my life seeing and doing as much as I can. That’s probably why I like journalism so much. It keeps me up and moving. In any case, some friends of mine have been planning their move also, so when I told them that was my goal, they offered me the opportunity to stay with them. So naturally, with such a HUGE chance to have a solid place to stay out there, I said yes. I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

Oh my god. No way. I was just looking at the info for the Columbia journalism school like, two days ago online. That is such a weird coincidence, lol.

It’s such a great program! I have a friend going there now and he was telling me about who the professors are and they are just incredible people with so much experience, not to mention the classes are fantastic also. Needless to say I got a little jealous when he first started! Haha. Are you a journalism major now?
